Two entrepreneurship contests have provided recognition to a major student Window Blinds innovation, which is potentially capable of offering energy-saving benefits to its users, it has been revealed.

According to the website of the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business, the six students who helped to develop the Luminex EcoLight System while on a course run by the Faculty of Applied Science and Sauder gained prizes at the Evansville New Venture Creation Competition and the Tony Brower Innovation Exposition.

In total, prize money of $15,000 (£9,100) was attained by the students thanks to their success in these two prizes.

The business school's site also reported that reflective blinds form part of the product which the students developed.

When it comes to green home appliances, Miller & Son also recently pointed out that the Jynjy property it is currently offering in the Praze area of Cornwall features remote-controlled blinds.
