Parents could look to spruce up their offspring's student rooms in various ways, it has been highlighted by one commentator.
Writing in an article for Peterborough paper the Evening Telegraph, Gabrielle Fagan has noted that home sickness is one problem that parents could try to address by enhancing the look of their youngsters' new living quarters.
She commented: "They'll spend hours in their room and, with winter looming, it needs to be snug."
As a result, Ms Fagan pointed out that "plenty of colourful throws should do the trick and could also be used as makeshift curtains".
Posters could also be used by parents to brighten up areas of wall space, the writer continued in her article.
Many young people will be heading to universities across the country in the coming weeks as the 2010-11 academic year begins.
Back in July, UCAS revealed that the UK had witnessed a yearly increase of 11.6 per cent in its undergraduate application figures.
