The arrays which are produced by one solar cell firm in Ireland could potentially be added to products such as
Window Blinds in the future, it has been suggested.
Entrance facades and table tops are among the other building accessories which might be able to make use of arrays made by SolarPrint in the months to come, the Irish Times has reported.
Roy Horgan, director of the company, commented that quicker payback periods could be offered by SolarPrint's products.
He told the news provider: "Our technology can work in ambient - not very bright - light, and in typical Irish weather conditions."
"Normal solar cells cannot achieve the same efficiency in these conditions," Mr Horgan continued.
Currently operating from premises in Dublin, some 20 businesses are already said to be making use of SolarPrint's innovations.
Meanwhile, last July saw the firm's new headquarters opened by Ireland's then enterprise, trade and innovation minister, Batt O'Keeffe.
