Window Blinds are among the energy efficiency measures which could be adopted with the help of a new green initiative on the Shetland Islands, it has been revealed.
Thanks to the Community Energy Efficiency Programme, which both Community Energy Scotland and the Shetland Islands Council are getting behind, grants will be on offer to voluntary groups which run buildings on behalf of communities.
Insulation is among the other energy saving measures which could be introduced by such organisations with the aid of the scheme's funding in the future.
Discussing the new venture, culture and recreation spokesperson at the council Florence Grains commented: "This scheme provides wins on all fronts and will bring substantial benefit to the whole community in every part of Shetland."
When it comes to green issues in the region, it was also recently confirmed by Shetland Amenity Trust that the Carbon Reduction Shetland scheme will continue to be operated for a further 12 months.
