Home improvements are among the things that people in the UK are currently trying to save money for, according to new research.
Figures published by Legal & General have shown that 45 per cent of those queried in its recent MoneyMood Survey are looking to put cash aside to fund property improvements.
Of these people, 48 per cent are said to be women.
However, this is just one of many things that consumers are saving money towards, with Legal & General pointing out that 68 per cent of those polled said they are trying to save for a rainy day.
The executive director for savings at the firm, Mark Gregory, feels that consumers are now more willing to save money.
He stated: "The mood of the nation is definitely one of saving (60 per cent) rather than spending (23 per cent)."
Last month, separate research from Halifax Home Insurance suggested that DIY is something that many younger householders struggle with.
