Energy efficiency is something which UK consumers should be encouraged to focus on when introducing new kitchen and bathroom improvements to their properties, an expert suggests, which may interest Roman Blinds owners.

National Home Improvement Council director Andrew Leech said that long-term benefits could arise from the adoption of certain energy efficiency improvements within people's homes.

"They should be looking at new kitchens and new bathrooms plus energy efficiency measures because that is going to pay dividends in the long run," he added.

Heat pumps and solar panel technologies are green home improvement measures which could be utilised by people in the months ahead, Mr Leech continued.

It is not just householders who might be slow to come to terms with green energy efficiency measures, with Professor Ross King, joint programme director at the Centre for Sustainable Environmental Management - Brunel Management Programme, suggesting that smaller-scale businesses could find it hard to address sustainability issues.
