Homeowners should make sure they do not forget their
Window Blinds when they are giving their properties a spring clean.
This is according to Debra Johnson, training manager for the Merry Maids housecleaning company in Memphis, Tennessee, who told the Peoria Journal Star that having the right tools is the key to cleaning a house properly.
She said that people should adjust their Plastic Blinds so that they are shut and then wipe them with a damp cloth.
The slats, such as those on
Venetian Blinds, should then be reversed and the other side cleaned, also with a clean, damp cloth.
A tool specially designed for blind cleaning can be used to remove dust and dirt from between the slats, Ms Johnson told the newspaper.
Those with cloth window coverings, such as
Roman Blinds, should use a vacuum cleaner with an appropriate attachment to get rid of dust and dirt.
Molly Maid's Paula Whitehorn recently told the Times Colonist that people should clean their
Window Blinds every three months.
