When it comes to home improvement projects, people should ensure that they are giving adequate attention to the issue of eye safety, according to one organisation.
Decorating is one form of DIY that the College of Optometrists believes could pose eye risks to consumers if they are not careful.
The organisation's optometric adviser Dr Susan Blakeney feels that precautions need to be taken by householders who are attempting potentially dangerous home improvements.
She stated: "Always follow the instructions that come with the tools and equipment you will be using and ensure you wear the protective clothing suggested."
Gardening is something else that the expert suggests could pose eye risks to the country's residents.
Energy efficiency is an issue that people could focus on when making property improvements, Michael Holmes, a spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, recently highlighted.
Condensing boilers could help consumers to achieve a more eco-friendly home, he added.
