Blackout Blinds help people to sleep and could, therefore, enable people to avoid making risky decisions, a study has suggested.
Neuroscientists at two Duke University medical schools found that trying to make decisions while sleep-deprived can lead to risk taking.
Functional MRI scans identified that a lack of sleep leads to increased activity in the regions of the brain that assess positive outcomes.
Sleep deprivation also leads to decreased activation in the brain areas that process negative outcomes, therefore people are more optimistic, or willing to take risks, when they have not had enough sleep.
The results of the study were published in the Journal of Neuroscience on March 8th.
Last week, Sarah McAllister, director of Feng Shui Agency & School of Chue Feng Shui, suggested that the quality of people's sleep can be affected by the decor of their rooms, for example, the type of
window blinds they have selected.
