People with window coverings such as
Aluminium Venetian Blinds in their homes may wish to shut them if they experience power outages in the near future, it is suggested.
WLFI.com reported that the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is encouraging people to think about shutting their window coverings if their homes end up losing power.
The organisation is reported as saying: "Close blinds and drapes or cover windows with a blanket to help prevent heat from escaping through the glass."
However, this is not the only potential measure which householders may wish to take when their power goes out, the source added.
According to the news provider, the department also recommends that people should aim to stay warm by dressing themselves in an appropriate manner.
Meanwhile, Alexander Homme recently suggested in an article published by Manhattan Style that opening blinds and letting light into rooms could prove useful to people with winter blues.
